In recognition of the educators who have recently commenced as Leading Educators, our August Educational Leader meeting focused on mentoring emerging leading educators.
The educational leaders engaged in professional readings about birth to two year old development, and reflected on their understandings of theories and practice to inform curriculum planning and decision- making.
They reflected on programming responsibilities, and how non-contact time can be effectively organised to foster the development and delivery of high quality programs and learning outcomes.
The Educational Leaders reflected on environmental print and making learning visible, considering the different ways children’s learning and sense of belonging and wellbeing can be supported and evidenced through our visual displays.
These collaborative, research informed discussions, have supported us to create supportive resources that will be shared with emerging leading educators as Educational Leaders induct and mentor them in their roles. For experienced leading educators these resources have been identified as beneficial for affirming and extending understanding and practices while supporting our ongoing priority of reflective continual improvement.
The Educational Leaders had opportunity to revisit the “Embedding Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Perspectives” workshop from our March meeting, welcoming back our Indigenous Cultural Coordinator to participate in discussions. They reflected on current and developing practices from their centres, and then participated in a book review activity, reading a range of Aboriginal storybooks and reflecting on ways to engage with this resource within their curriculums.
